Community revitalization doesn’t just happen by accident. It takes hard work, vision and commitment from town leaders. Several years ago a group of concerned residents got together and decided to find ways of rebuilding the town.

In 2005 the town government formed the Sutton Community Development Committee. The committee members were from the town council. The committee then applied in 2008 and was accepted in 2009 to become one of the first thirteen WV ON TRAC communities.

The goal of the On Trac program is for Sutton’s future to be an arts community, focusing on recreation and historic preservation.

Results are taking hold; an effective community economic development organization was established in 2007 as a 501 C-3 tax-exempt non-profit.  The town has a shared vision for the future and there is a dramatic increase in the amount of community participation from both residents and businesses. Our organization has been involved in many of the town’s events and festivals.

Becoming a member of the SCDC gives you the opportunity to benefit from the organization and its affiliates. Technical assistance is also available to our members where we are equipped to help.
